Burlesque Beauty Tricks: My 4 Favorites

beauty tips

This winter has been particularly rough (especially here in Michigan) with record snowfall and bone-chilling temperatures. I’ve been trying out all sorts of burlesque beauty tricks to combat the effects of the harsh, cold and dry season and found some things that I really loved. These things have now become a regular part of my beauty regimen and I thought I would share them!

Body

beauty tips and tricks This amazing body scrub will do wonders for your skin. It helps remove dead skin cells while moisturizing and it smells so good you’ll want to eat it!

1/2 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup brown sugar (or regular white sugar if you want a more coarse texture)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Mix ingredients together. Rub on skin while in the shower, massage, and rinse. (I made up a two week batch and put it in an airtight jar in my shower.)

Lips

beauty tips This quick scrub is the ultimate treatment to keep your lips soft and smooth. (A must before applying that perfect shade of red lipstick!)

Combine a bit of olive oil with caster sugar (also known as superfine sugar; you can also make your own by putting regular granulated sugar in the food processor for a minute) and a touch of peppermint extract. Place some of the paste on your lips, massage and wipe off with a damp cloth.

Hair

beauty tutorials  Regular old extra virgin olive oil is my favorite hair treatment. It works just as well as alot
of deep conditioners I have tried and its something I always have on hand. I like to work a generous amount into the ends of my hair and twist it up with a clip. I try to leave it on while I am doing things around the house for an hour or so. Shampoo, condition and style as normal after.

Inside & Out

beauty how-to
Another product I discovered this winter and now don’t want to live with out is Chia Seeds. I started adding them to the fresh juice I make and after only three days of using them I could feel a difference. My skin looks and feels better and I have more energy, especially in the mornings (and I am NOT a morning person so that’s saying a lot). They’re pretty tiny, almost flavorless and can be added to cereal, juice, salads, really anything! They’re packed full of antioxidants and good stuff. There are a lot of different brands online, but I bought the Spectrum brand at my local health food store.

I hope you love these tricks as much as I do and hopefully warm weather is just around the corner!
